Our Story

South India's first tufting house.

Tuftly was founded in Chennai with a singular purpose: to bring the craft of tufting — long associated with the carpet clusters of North India — to a region that loves design but has never had a serious local rug atelier of its own.

Every piece that leaves our studio is hand-tufted by trained artisans, using premium wool, acrylic, viscose, and natural fibres. We work with interior designers, hospitality brands, and individual collectors who want rugs that are not just beautiful — but considered, durable, and made with care.

From custom commissions for private homes to bespoke installations for hotels and boutiques, every rug is finished by hand and shipped from our studio in Chennai to homes across India and the world.

How a Tuftly rug is born.

Design

We work with you — or your interior designer — to develop a design tailored to your space, palette, and story.

Yarn

Premium wool, acrylic, viscose, and jute are sourced and dyed to match your design. Every batch is colour-tested.

Tuft

Trained artisans hand-tuft each rug on stretched primary cloth, loop by loop, in our Chennai studio.

Finish

Latex backing, secondary cloth, carving, shearing, and binding — a Tuftly rug is finished entirely by hand.
